We study history to learn for the future. If all of a sudden all of our modern possessions disapear, we would look into the past and use stuff like the Sumerians or Mayans used them.
It is important to study history so you can know about the past. In a few hundred years maybe people will be learning about us. History isn't just learning about dead people who live in different continents it can be pretty intresting.
